Born in Prague, Czech Republic, he entered the Czech National Conservatoire in Prague at the age of 10. She has participated in many international ballet competitions and achieved brilliant results, including the Lausanne International Ballet Competition (where she received the Paris Dance Foundation Award) and the Pretoria International Ballet Competition (where she received a gold medal). Eight years later, she graduated with her highest honor in “Sleeping Beauty”, which she performed at the Prague National Theater, and she joined the Czech National Theater Ballet as a soloist. La Traviata, in which she played the role of Marguerite, was made into a film and was so popular and critically acclaimed that it is still regularly shown on Czech television. In 1991, she joined the Cape Town City Ballet, based in Cape Town, South Africa. She appeared as Titania in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

In 1992, she joined Scottish Ballet due to the then artistic director Galina Samsova’s first sight of her, and spent three years there before transferring to English National Ballet. She has appeared in many classical works and works by contemporary choreographers. She also helped produce Christopher Hampson’s award-winning Double Concerto.

In 2003, she founded the Prague International Ballet Master Class. She teaches the next generation of dancers, with guest teachers including Tamara Rojo, Nicolas Le Riche, and Julio Bocca.

In 2011, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the British Critics Circle. Furthermore, the following year she won the Best Female Dancer Award. She has been invited as a guest artist by theaters around the world and has fascinated people from all over the world.

Retired in 2019 and works as a lecturer at the Royal Ballet School, teaching younger students. She has also taught as a guest lecturer at Czech National Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Hungarian National Ballet, Dutch National Ballet Academy, and New National Theater Ballet Company.

In 2023, she retired from teaching at the Royal Ballet School. Since then, he has held workshops to train the next generation in various countries.

 

CHRISTOPER POWNEY

He has danced with Northern Ballet, English National Ballet, and Lambert Dance Company. He has performed and created many roles and worked with many famous choreographers and artists, including Christopher Gable, Lynn Seymour, Frederick Franklin, Ivan Nagy, Rudolf Nureyev, Glenn Tetley, Christopher Bruce, and Jiri Kylian. Co-starred with.

While building her career as a dancer, she began to focus on a career as a teacher, taking the Royal Ballet School’s Professional Dance Teacher Course and gaining qualifications. She served as Assistant Artistic Director for the Central School of Ballet’s Alumni Touring Company, and in 2000 she coordinated and performed at a gala celebrating the life and work of Christopher Gable CBE.

In 2000, at the invitation of Gayleen Stock, she joined the faculty of the Royal Ballet School and taught at the Upper School. She then left the UK in 2006 when she took up a postgraduate teaching position in the Department of Dance at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague. In September 2010, she was appointed artistic director of the Dutch National Ballet Academy. Throughout this period, she helped found the Dutch National Ballet Junior Company and also founded the Amsterdam International Summer School.

Participated as a judge in many international competitions such as the Lausanne International Competition and the Youth America Grand Prix. He will become a member of the Windsor Leadership Alumni Network in 2022.

After returning to the UK, he became artistic director of the Royal Ballet School in September 2014. In 2022 he became artistic director and CEO.
