Otto Bubeniček, Principal dancer,
Hamburg Ballet
Born in Poland, Otto is of Czech nationality. His education
was at the Conservatory of Dance in Prague, his main teachers
Andrej Halász and
Jaroslav Slavický,
He has been at Hamburg Ballet since 1993, promoted to soloist
in 1995 and to principal in 1997. His repertory includes
leading classical and modern roles in the works of John Neumeier
and other choreographers.

In 1992 Otto and his twin brother Jiří won the "Prix d'Especes" at
the Prix de Lausanne. He worked with Donya Feuer on
her most recent documentary film "The
Work Of Utopia". John Neumeier choreographed a duet "Lento" to
the second movement of Shostakovich's First Piano Concerto for
Otto and Darcey
Bussell for the reopening of Covent Garden "A Celebration
of International Choreography" 1999, Otto danced "Remanso" from
Nacho Duato with his twin brother Jiří and Vladimir Malakhov for
AIDS-help in Hamburg 1999. 2003 TV Arte made a documentary film
about Otto and Jiří .
His guest appearances include Munich, Dresden, Lyon, Copenhagen,
London (Royal Ballet), Prague, Lausanne, St. Bart, Budapest, St.Petersburg,
World Ballet Festival in Japan (Tokyo - 2000).
He also teach ballet classes in Japan and Czech republic. He worked
and prepared Arsen Megrabian for the 20th International Ballet
Competition "Varna 2002", Where Arsen Megrabian received
the "Jubilee
Prize" and Gold medal.
